The MillOwner’s Building

A website for the iconic MillOwner’s Building in Ahmedabad, designed by Le Corbusier - bringing together archives, events, and programs through a responsive interface and custom CMS.

CEPT University

Introduction

The MillOwner’s Association Building (ATMA) in Ahmedabad is one of the key buildings designed by Le Corbusier.

Our brief was to design and develop a website that could serve as a home for its archives, programs, and community.

The challenge

The challenge was to design a website that reflected the architectural identity of the MillOwner’s Building while remaining contemporary, responsive, and easy to navigate across devices. At the same time, the platform needed a simple and intuitive CMS that would allow the CEPT and ATMA teams to independently manage and update content with ease.

Our approach

  1. 01

Inspired by the building’s architectural language

The website’s visual system was informed by the modular grid and spatial rhythm of the MillOwner’s Building itself. Layouts, proportions, and transitions were designed to echo the experience of moving through the architecture, translating elements of the building into a responsive digital framework.

The colour palette drew from tones associated with Le Corbusier, allowing the interface to remain visually connected to the building while functioning seamlessly across light and dark modes.

  2. 02

    Spaces to Explore

While the website retains a conventional navigation structure, interactive sections within the grid act as entry points into different areas of content, creating a sense of movement and discovery inspired by the building itself. Subtle hover interactions and motion add dynamism to the interface, encouraging exploration and deeper engagement.

The website was designed not just as an informational platform, but as a digital extension of the building, supporting research, discovery, and public engagement while retaining its architectural spirit.

  3. 03

    Thoughtful Details

Careful attention was given to subtle details throughout the experience. Features such as real-time weather updates support visitors planning a trip to the building, while custom-designed interface elements; including the contact page map, adapt dynamically to the website’s visual language across viewing modes.

  4. 04

    Custom CMS

Built on a headless CMS tailored to the team’s existing workflow, the platform allows content, events, and audience management through a clean and intuitive interface. Events added in the CMS automatically populate the monthly calendar view on the front end, while newsletter signups flow directly into the system, keeping subscriber management centralized. The result is a flexible setup that allows the team to manage and update the website independently, without developer involvement.

The result

The redesigned platform combines a contemporary visual identity with strong technical performance. Alongside an improved user experience and streamlined CMS, the website achieved great scores across all categories in the Google Lighthouse audit — including performance, accessibility, best practices, and SEO.

The result is a fast, accessible, and future-ready platform that reflects the architectural significance of the MillOwner’s Building while remaining easy for the internal team to manage and evolve over time.
